Britney Spears in 30...

Someone who has lived his tween or teen years in 1990's or 2000's and not heard of Britney Spears? - AbsoTotally IMPOSSIBLE! Britney Spears became an international pop culture icon immediately after launching her recording career. Spears has sold over 100 million records worldwide. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), she is the eighth top-selling female artist in the United States, with 33 million certified albums. She is also recognized as the best-selling female artist of the first decade of the 21st century, as well as the fifth overall. She was ranked the 8th Artist of the 2000s by Billboard.

And now the Pop Princess is turning 30!!!

Let's have a look back at the tremendous (and sometimes tumultuous!) life and career of this Superstar:

Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2, 1981 in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana

Britney was on American TV screens from 1993 as a member of The Mickey Mouse Club alongside Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Ryan Gosling

In 1998, Britney released her first single "... Baby, One More Time" - a song which topped on worldwide musical charts and sold more than 9 Million copies, launching her to the super stardom! The Album of the same name became the biggest selling album ever by a teenage artist.

Her private life was going well too - Britney started dating Justin Timberlake just before she hit the big time and they became the uber-couple of the moment.

Britney landed her first starring role in Crossroads, released in February 2002. Although the film was largely panned, critics praised Spears's acting. Mean while her singing career remained at the top with even more successful albums, "Oops! I did it again!" and "In The Zone".

At 22, Britney married her childhood friend Jason Alexander at a 24-hour chapel in Las Vegas. The marriage was annulled a little over two days later, but it was the first real sign that she was struggling to cope with her massive fame.

Starting of the destruction: Britney married her backup dancer Kevin Federline. After two years and having two kids, Britney filed for divorce.

Ugly and very public divorce and child custody battle and way too much partying - Britney became the highlights of the tabloids as the poster girl for twenty-something train-wreck. despite her erratic behaviour, no one was prepared for this. After her family staged an intervention, Britney checked into rehab but checked out one day later, drove to a hairdressing salon and shaved her own head.

The troubled star lost custody of her children in October 2007 and hit rock bottom early the following year when she refused to hand back the boys after a visit. She was sectioned under the mental health act and spent a week in hospital. Britney spent much of 2007 and 2008 in court, either battling for joint custody of her sons or being informed of details concerning her father's conservatorship, which put him in charge of her financial affairs. Of course, everywhere she went, the paparazzi followed.

Things started to look up once again when Britney concentrated on her side tracked career and released her comeback album "Circus" which became one of the fastest-selling albums of the year 2008-09 and has sold 4 million copies worldwide.

She's found love again too, with her former manager Jason Trawick and the joint custoday of her children. Also She has released her seventh studio album "Femme Fatale" which has peaked at number one in the United States(, Canada, and Australia, and peaked inside the top ten on worldwide charts - seems like she got her life back on track!
